With loud chants of “Open up now!”, Buckeye-Shaker Square residents held a rally Tuesday, May 11 calling for the reopening of their local post office branch, which closed suddenly following a robbery six months ago and has not reopened since then.
Utilities for All, Sunrise Movement Cleveland and InterReligious Task Force on Central America (IRTF) have joined forces to push for more affordable utility rates and a moratorium on shutoffs from Cleveland Public Power and Cleveland’s Division of Water.
The pandemic has tested the strength of the community, but the care shown by many Clevelanders who came to the aid of their neighbors has been a bright spot. In truth, the foot soldiers of this hyper local care giving have been working tirelessly and away from the spotlight for years.
