A vibrant cultural celebration for the whole family, the annual “Day of the Dead” honors the memory of those who have passed on and is a treasured holiday in Mexico and throughout Latin America. This joyous celebration inspired by the Mexican Dia de Muertos holiday features altar (ofrenda) installations, the annual “Skulls & Skeletons” procession, Latin food, live music, folk art market, and FREE entertainment for all ages.

Enjoy a classic Thanksgiving feast with family and friends as you dine with President Lincoln and Hale Farm & Village costumed interpreters. Listen to the stories of our nation’s past and enjoy the music of the season. Youth activities are offered throughout the afternoon. The MarketPlace at Hale Farm & Village is open for holiday shopping. Hale Farm & Village grounds are not open for this event. Dinner includes; Turkey breast with gravy, traditional stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetable, mixed green salad and dessert. Wine and beer are available for purchase. Together in Tradition: A Kwanzaa Celebration @ Your Library event, scheduled for Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at our Martin Luther King, Jr. Campus (10601 Euclid Ave, Cleveland, OH 44106). In partnership with Djapo Cultural Arts Institute, the event will immerse participants in a rich tapestry of African and African American cultural traditions, promoting unity, empowerment, and creativity through soulful music, captivating storytelling, and communal engagement.

The Cleveland History Center will open on Monday, January 19 - MLK Day, 10am to 4pm. We will offer free admission all day with $3 rides on the Euclid Beach Park Grand Carousel. All exhibits will be open. Weber’s Premium Custard will be on site selling Euclid Beach Vanilla and Higbee’s Frosted Malt. In addition to the ongoing museum exhibits, we will have special material on view in the Library related to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and other material from the African American History Archive. Members of the WRHS Genealogical Committee will be onsite to assist visitors with access to Ancestry Library and other family history resources. This is a great way to begin a family history research project. Guests are also invited to “Coffee, Cocoa, and Community Conversations” at 12pm. Seating is at capacity but a zoom option is available. Email Dr. Regennia Williams for information. Join us in the Crawford Rotunda at 1:30pm to celebrate students from Cleveland School of the Arts and their new installation of artwork featuring Tuskegee Airmen. This Cleveland Heroes Project honors the courage and legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen - heroes who transformed both military and civil rights history.

On February 7 – hundreds of people in Cleveland will brave the cold in just their undies during Cupid’s Undie Run, the nation’s largest pantless party and mileish run for charity. The event raises awareness of neurofibromatosis (NF), a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body, and fundraises for NF research through the Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF). Members of the Cleveland NF community can share their experiences with the genetic disorder. On Wednesday, February 18, 2026, Ohio will officially launch Beloved: Ohio Celebrates Toni Morrison—a yearlong, statewide celebration honoring the life, work, and legacy of Toni Morrison—with a kickoff event at The Columbus Foundation. The celebration will open on Toni Morrison Day, Wednesday, Feb. 18, with a kickoff event at The Columbus Foundation at 5 p.m. featuring a conversation between Namwali Serpell and Hanif Abdurraqib. Inspired by Serpell’s new book On Morrison, the conversation will explore Morrison’s lasting influence and why her work continues to matter today. The Darl Center for the Arts has announced its next stage production, Conscience, a play by Joe DiPietro centering on the political rivalry between Maine Senator Margaret Chase Smith and Wisconsin Senator Joe McCarthy. The play, based on true events, focuses on Smith, a trailblazer in American politics who remained a voice of reason amid the Red Scare. “After a successful west coast run, we are thrilled to welcome our friends, RKP Productions from Anchorage, Alaska, to the Darl Center,” says the arts center executive director, Darl Schaaff. “The play is often quite funny and always insightful and increasingly relevant.” Tickets are $35.
