Double your gift’s impact!

This weekend, we’re setting an ambitious mini-goal of $5,000. If the world’s richest corporations can make billions of dollars over three shopping-filled days, surely our local nonprofit newsroom can raise a few thousand, right?

When we hit our goal, NewsMatch will double your donations to $10,000 and we’ll be able to hire a BIPOC social equity reporter! While all gifts are appreciated, we need monthly or yearly gifts the most. Will you make a donation to help us continue to bridge the gaps in reporting on Cleveland neighborhoods? All donations include membership!

Lee Chilcote founded The Land in 2020 to give Cleveland residents the coverage they deserve.

The Land holds the community at its core. Our team of dedicated reporters is committed to covering local issues overlooked by traditional media. Our community journalism program trains locals to report on their neighborhoods. Our reporting fellowship offers opportunities for up-and-coming journalists of color.

The Land is working every day to deliver the news that matters to you. You told us you want to hear more about social equity and community and economic development. You told us you want to read about solutions, not just problems. We hear you. And thanks to member support, we can continue bringing you the informative, inspiring, local journalism you love.

Why do members give?

“Honesty, locally informed and well-researched journalism about issues of importance to Cleveland’s communities are more essential now than ever. The Land is my trusted source for this coverage.”

“The Land is delivering stories from Cleveland neighborhoods that you won’t find anywhere else. These stories are making a difference in the community and in people’s lives.”

“I appreciate that The Land has committed to building relationships with citizens to create stories that move beyond information sharing, political pandering, and sensationalism.”

“I love The Land because their stories are authentic and center Cleveland neighbors and neighborhoods that often go without fair and balanced coverage.”

“It’s nice to have a publication that is about the city. I really enjoy the stories that dig into the many issues that affect Clevelanders and show the way for solutions.”
