Lacey is a recent PhD graduate in sociology from Case Western Reserve University. Her dissertation research, “Displaced and Situated in Place: A Critical Study of Relational Space in a Gentrifying Neighborhood,” will be publicly available in May 2026. Her research interests include gentrification, inequality, criminal re-entry, criminal justice, and women’s health.
Detroit Shoreway has seen an influx of middle-class residents in the last 10-15 years and the effects of the new residents, visitors, and amenities have been felt by those living in the neighborhood.
