A huge environmental burden is due to be lifted as Ohio plans to cap almost 20,000 defunct oil wells across the state, including more than an estimated in 1,000 in Cuyahoga County.
In 2019, Cleveland City Council passed an historic law that requires landlords to have rental properties built before 1978 certified as lead safe. But the process is off to a slow start, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and bureaucratic roadblocks for hiring city staff required to enforce the mandate.

Low-income families may find it difficult to send their kids to a costly summer camp, but one nonprofit organization located in Cleveland’s University Circle neighborhood is removing that barrier and connecting urban middle-schoolers with their community. University Circle Inc. (UCI) is expanding their free after-school program, Circle Scholars, to the Circle Explorers Summer Camp for 7th and 8th graders.
