Samuel Herring was sent to prison nearly 40 years ago for a crime he said he didn’t commit. However, recent DNA testing coordinated by the Ohio Innocence Project found his DNA on evidence related to the case.
Samuel Herring has spent over 39 years behind bars for a crime he insists he didn’t commit. Now, he hopes the first-ever testing in a notorious 1984 rape will add another exoneration to the Ohio Innocence Project’s resume.
In January, State Rep. Juanita Brent will introduce legislation requiring police agencies to record race data when making traffic stops. The Cleveland Democrat says “the only way we can make systemic change is with the data.”
Bratenahl has assessed more than $700,000 in fines, court costs and other revenue since 2020, mostly from Black Clevelanders who drove through the village’s jurisdiction.
