In late August, an indoor ribbon cutting at West Park’s Franciscan Village marked the completion of the last piece of developable space on the complex. Franciscan Annex (Building D) adds 62 more units of senior housing in Cleveland.
The reception opened with a prayer, as all board meetings at the facility do, led by Donald MacBride, president of the Board of Trustees of Franciscan Village.
“Just under five years ago, we began a multi-year redevelopment project with a promise to transform Franciscan Village. Today, that promise is now kept in full with the grand opening of the Franciscan Annex,” MacBride said. “This impressive new addition marks the final, significant step in our project, introducing 62 modern units to our campus. These new homes are designed to meet the evolving needs of our residents and the broader neighborhood. They beautifully complement our existing 176 units, all of which are dedicated to serving low-income households.”
Life at the Annex
Building D’s residents pay full rent, at a rate of $985, with all utilities included, unlike residents in the Village’s other three buildings that are HUD-subsidized. Units are open to seniors age 55 and older and have modern amenities, like ranges, dishwashers, and refrigerators. Residents have the ability to share in all the amenities and activities offered to residents in the other buildings.
