Analysis: City of Cleveland is quietly blocking citizen planning efforts for safer, bike-friendly streets

For more than a decade, community developers on Cleveland’s near west side have been working to create a new, improved streetscape on Lorain Avenue between West 25th and West 65th Street. Yet now, it turns out, the long-envisioned Lorain Avenue Cycle Track may not happen at all, or if it does, it could be so watered down as to hardly resemble the original, bold vision.

One year after $8M Fulton Road re-do, car crashes are up 20%

In early 2020, west side residents celebrated the completion of a new, long-awaited, $8 million streetscape on Fulton Road in Cleveland’s Ohio City and Clark-Fulton neighborhoods. The two nonprofit community development groups have plans to build 40 new, single-family homes on vacant lots scattered throughout Ohio City, Clark-Fulton and Tremont.

Clevelanders respond to COVID by modeling compassion

The pandemic has tested the strength of the community, but the care shown by many Clevelanders who came to the aid of their neighbors has been a bright spot. In truth, the foot soldiers of this hyper local care giving have been working tirelessly and away from the spotlight for years.

Treo will bring 171 units to Ohio City-Tremont border

The latest in a series of luxury, mixed-use developments along the border of Tremont and Ohio City is set to break ground sometime this year, bringing 171 residential units and new retail space to West 25th Street and Swift Avenue. Additionally, the developer will contribute $65,000 to a new Lincoln Heights Developer’s Fund to support the area.
