Ahmad Farid Aria

Ahmad Farid Aria is the employment programs manager at United States Committee for Refugees and Immigrants, which assists refugees and immigrants in finding jobs and starting a new life in the U.S. He is also the president of the Afghan Community in Ohio, trying to help the new Afghan Ohioans adjust to life in the U.S. Ahmad managed a literacy project for Afghan security forces, funded by the NATO Training Mission from 2009 to 2015. As an engineer, he built hospitals, schools, and roads from 2015 to 2019, and since he migrated to the U.S. in 2019, he has been helping the refugee and immigrant populations to start their lives in the United States.

More than 1,000 Afghans have settled in Cleveland after fleeing the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan. Only temporary protections are in place to allow the refugees to stay in the U.S., where many have built lives.
