Dear Readers,
A place is its people and that is what The Land represents for me. The stories contained within capture the dynamism of our city and the vibrancy of its neighborhoods. Reading The Land reminds me of our interconnectedness.
I see myself in the stories. I see my friends, family, neighbors and all the people I love.
I see shared struggles, triumphs, and many reasons to rejoice with one another.
Above all, I find inspiration. I’m constantly amazed by the fortitude and perseverance of Clevelanders.
What makes The Land special is that it amplifies the voices of everyday people. Since completing the Community Journalism program, I’ve gained the courage to use my voice more often. I am no longer afraid to ask critical questions or share how I feel.
I am also no longer afraid to expose issues I encounter in the community or hold those in power to their promises. One community journalist at a time, The Land is building a stronger foundational form of citizenship, fostering a healthier, more equitable society for us all.
Together, let us raise our voices and create a meaningful legacy of empowerment and progress. Please join me in supporting “community-powered journalism for a better Cleveland.”
Sincerely,
Ronaldo Rodriguez Jr.
