The Land is pleased to announce the launch of a new internship program with Cleveland State University this fall.
Two students from the journalism program will join The Land each semester in providing reporting for Cleveland and surrounding cities. They’ll learn how to source, report, and edit stories for publication, and will also have the opportunity to experience all aspects of the nonprofit news industry, which is growing nationwide.
“We’re delighted to be working with the next generation of journalists in Cleveland,” said Chris Mosby, executive director of The Land. “We can’t wait to see what stories they unearth and the ways they move our organization forward.”
Students will receive a $500 stipend and can receive academic credit for their experience. The interns can be renewed at the end of the semester or new students can take on the opportunity.
“We are delighted by the internship partnership with the School of Communication and The Land to provide our students with external relevant and engaged experiences that complement their learning,” said Jill Gordon, dean of CSU’s Levin College of Public Affairs & Education. “The Land’s focus on informing and inspiring communities to take action means this is a terrific collaboration.”
The internships are open to Cleveland State undergraduates with junior or senior standing who are active with one of CSU’s student-led news sites: The Cleveland Stater, The Cauldron and The Vindicator.
“We thank Mr. Mosby and the dedicated professionals at The Land for both extending this opportunity to CSU students and their willingness to mentor future journalists,” School of Communication director Rob Whitbred said.
