The Land recently worked with students at the Mastery School of Hawken, in University Circle, on their month-long challenge course. Over the course of three weeks, students from the high school worked on short documentary films focused on finding “under-reported and over-reported stories in Greater Cleveland.”
The Land’s Executive Director Chris Mosby met with the class to discuss the state of local news in Northeast Ohio, and how many stories and angles go unreported. Mosby was joined by Faith Boone, founder of Boone Logic and consultant for The Land, and East Clevelander Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Tyisha Blade while working with the students. Mosby, Boone and Blade described the experience of working with the students as “energizing.”
“We loved seeing what the students were able to create and their passion for local news,” Mosby said.
“The students at Mastery School of Hawken demonstrated both eagerness and a strong understanding of journalism. I was truly impressed and inspired by their passion. I look forward to seeing them develop into the next generation of journalists,” Blade added.
