The New York Times featured The Land Board Member Caitlyn Johnson’s reporting in an in-depth investigation into the financial incentives driving police traffic stops across three U.S. states. The story quotes Johnson on her investigation into the Bratenahl Mayor’s Court and links back to one of her stories in The Land.

The Society of Environmental Journalists’ Fund for Environmental Journalism has awarded $57,332 for 12 projects selected through the Spring 2021 round of competition (including The Land) for stories focusing on two topics: environmental health and justice in the United States; and religion, climate and environment connections.
The Land won “Best Government Reporting” from the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) for Charlotte Morgan’s story, “The mower lady of Greenlawn Avenue keeps her street clean and safe — one cut at a time.”

In an effort to increase our reporting capacity and address the historic lack of diversity in newsrooms across the country and right here in Northeast Ohio, we are seeking a BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) candidate to fill a nine-month reporting fellowship.
More than 25 people came out to the Photocentric art gallery on Waterloo Road on Wednesday to participate in “[re]Forest City: Environmental Justice in the CLE,” a community event that was part of the Cleveland Foundation’s Common Ground series.
