Refugee Response, a nonprofit organization that empowers refugees resettled in Northeast Ohio to thrive in their new home, and Facing History and Ourselves, a group that uses lessons of history to challenge teachers and students to stand up to bigotry and hate, are relocating to the Urban Community School campus.
As Cleveland schools continue with remote learning, the district has experienced a pandemic exodus—2,252 students left between October 2019 and October 2020. Some parents are transferring their children to private Catholic schools for a strictly in-person education, despite the pandemic risks.

On January 15, 2021, the actual birthday of The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., The Urban League of Greater Cleveland launched My Brother’s Keeper Greater Cleveland Chapter, a program to support boys and young men of color from this community.
