With the help of nonprofit US Together, refugees in the Cleveland area work to get small businesses up and running. Funded by the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement, the program has helped more than 30 entrepreneurs.
The nonprofit US Together has helped more than 80 refugees and immigrants become entrepreneurs since 2018. Here are some of the businesses they've created and ways you can support them.
US Together’s successful support of immigrant and refugee enterprises helps build the local economy, but the agency needs funds to keep the effort going into 2023.
Mayor Justin Bibb nominated two public transit users to the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) Board of Trustees. If approved, they would be only the third and fourth trustees to actually use the transit system they represent while on the board.
With average rents of $1.57 per square foot, or $1,100 for a 700 square foot one bedroom, many front line workers such as hotel and restaurant employees cannot afford to live downtown. The Centennial project aims to address that by offering workforce housing that is accessible to those earning 50-80% of area median income.
