In August, Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity kicked off its 400 Home Initiative to help disadvantaged families build wealth from home ownership.
About 300 students ages 8-16 spend five weeks on the Case Western Reserve University campus each summer. The program has impacted generations of Clevelanders throughout its 53-year history, alumni and participants said.
A growing number of Cleveland adults older than 65 live in poverty. Union Miles Development Corporation is trying to ease the burden on seniors with a program to fund small home repairs.
