The annual Lakewood July 4th parade will be held Saturday, July 4, and starts at 10 a.m. The city is currently accepting applications from groups interested in participating in the parade.
Applications must be submitted by June 23. Participants are barred from throwing candy, toys or other objects from vehicles during the parade. However, if you have multiple people in your group, some participants may walk alongside the vehicles and hand out candy or other goods to parade attendees.
The complete list of rules for this year’s parade participants, and the associated application, can be found on the city’s website.
This year’s route begins at Kenneth and Lake avenues and continues eastward to Lakewood Park. Participants will be asked to line up between 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. All participants are asked to line up no later than 9:30 a.m. The line up location is at Edgewater Drive, between Webb and Kenneth.
Anyone who is participating in the parade but is not driving a vehicle in the procession is asked to park their cars at Lakewood Park. A shuttle will ferry them to the parade line-up spot.
