Cuyahoga Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) will host a Rocky River Watershed cleaning on June 6. Volunteers can help collect trash throughout the area.
Cleanups will run from 9 a.m. through noon. There will be BBQ available for volunteers as a “thank you,” according to a press release sent by SWCD. Interested parties should meet at the Emerald Neckla Marina and Scenic Park Picnic Area at 18900 Cleveland Metro Park Drive in Lakewood. Those who are planning to attend should contact Meg Hennessey at 216-503-1265 or via email at mhennessey@cuyahogaswcd.org.
Volunteers at the cleanup should plan on wearing long sleeves, pants, boots or work shoes. They should not wear open-toe shoes. Some supplies will be provided, including bags and work gloves. All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
“Watershed cleanups offer a hands-on way to support the health of our shared waterways. Volunteers not only help improve the environment but also gain insight into how streams function and change over time, the threats they face, and the actions we can take to protect and restore them,” SWCD said in a statement.
