During my time as an intern with The Land, I got to work on a variety of projects. One of the things I loved about this internship was that I had the chance to learn a little bit of everything.
My first assignment was to write a new subscriber email for people who had just subscribed to our newsletter. Although I had no experience with email marketing, Tammy Wise was a huge help and walked me through everything I needed to know.
I went on to do social media related content, starting with Facebook. Lee guided me through posting on Facebook and how to plan out content in google sheets. I learned a bit more about how Facebook analytics work and which posts are going to get the most engagement.
However, my pride and joy from this internship was building The Land’s Instagram from the ground up. Every week, Tammy and I strategized and came up with a plan to gain more followers and boost engagement. With just under 100 followers starting off, we are now about to hit our 500 goal.
One of the key lessons I took away from this internship was to be receptive of things that are out of your comfort zone. Before this internship, I knew nothing about Mailchimp and now I know how it works and how to navigate it, which could be helpful to know for a future job. I also learned that when you take initiative, your supervisors are going to take note and they like to see that quality in an intern. Hard work definitely pays off and they are always noticing when you go above and beyond to get the job done.
