Need to Know: City council pushes for recycling fix, the impact of nursing home outbreaks on families and more

At the June 2nd meeting of Cleveland City Council’s Development, Planning and Sustainability meeting, president Kevin Kelley pressed chief operating officer Darnell Brown on Cleveland’s recycling hiatus: “We talked about keeping people in practice; let’s keep them in practice doing something that actually works. Do something smart that keeps the confidence of the citizens.”

Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson released details of the city’s ReStart CLE plan last week and held a telephone town hall meeting to answer questions. The city’s Department of Public Health is working on public health education, direct prevention support to at-risk populations, and expanded community outreach. The city is also offering assistance and support to businesses that have closed or are at risk of closing.
