Tell us about yourself and what attracted you to The Land.

My name is Hannah Mosley and I’m a Cleveland State University student going into my senior year. I transferred from Cuyahoga Community College with my Associate of Arts. I am now majoring in Graphic Design.

The beautiful photography in each story initially attracted me to The Land. Visual storytelling and photography have always been very energizing to me. That kind of style being incorporated into The Land’s articles stuck out a lot. The Land’s goal to inform, celebrate, and connect the communities in Cleveland is one that I admired. To see that kind of outreach in a growing city was exciting to me.

What projects have you been working on?

I’m currently working on outreach to readers, members, and fans of The Land. I am working on upcoming events, digital marketing for newsletter growth, data entry, and making fun graphics for social media. A project that I’m excited about is a collaboration I am planning with a festival this coming August. I love networking and meeting new people, especially for the sole purpose of raising community awareness about The Land and its mission to strengthen Cleveland.

How has your background in design helped with what you’ve been working on?

The ability to incorporate my skills into creative projects has enabled me to not only have fun but also to challenge myself. In graphic design, it’s important to have fun and incorporate those creative elements. It’s also important to apply structure and organization and to strategize effectively. The projects that I’m working on have allowed me to step out of my comfort zone. From meeting new people via zoom or in person, I’m developing effective marketing strategies that go well with graphic design.

What has been your most valuable learning so far?

I have found most valuable so far the connections I am making with people. I’ve lived in Cleveland all my life and sometimes took for granted the great things that the city offers. I love meeting people who are starting worthwhile projects and nonprofits. Providing opportunities for those who are less fortunate is important to me. It has been inspiring to connect with people who share the same drive that I have. Learning about the ways they seek to make change is great.

What’s next for you?

What’s next for me now is graduating with my B.F.A. I seek to attend graduate school after some time working in the field. For now, I plan to continue connecting with great people as I have done at The Land.
