Maintaining good health is key to a thriving life. And with the current state of healthcare costs, it can often be difficult to obtain even the most basic levels of care.
The Care Alliance Health Center and the City of Cleveland have collaborated to help quell some of those worries and assist those in need to get a jump start on their personal health goals at the Second Annual Men’s Health Summit Saturday, June 27 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Tower City Center.
The Summit will feature free health screenings, panel discussions, live cooking demonstrations, free haircuts, local resource vendors and much more. Registration is strongly suggested through Eventbrite.
“The Second Annual Men’s Health Summit represents what is possible when a city comes together around the health and well-being of men,” says Dr. Ken J.A. Griffin, president and CEO of Care Alliance. “Through collaboration, partnership and shared purpose, we are creating space for conversations, resources, and care that can change lives across Cleveland. This is more than an event, it is a community commitment to healthier men, stronger families, and a stronger city.”
While the 2025 inaugural fair – which featured author/activist Kevin Powell as the keynote speaker – focused exclusively on men’s health and attracted nearly 300 community members, the scope has expanded this year to include the family as a unit. New this year will be a Kids’ Zone with fun activities, including a giant inflatable brain, provided by the Cuyahoga County Board of Health, offering valuable information for children about the importance of brain health.
“In lieu of a keynote speaker this year, there will also be an important panel discussion featuring Cleveland-born pro athletes,” says Janiyah Spears, Care Alliance’s PR and marketing coordinator. “Guests include Cleveland Browns Defensive Tackle Mike Hall, Jr.; international basketball player and University of Akron Alum Romeo Travis; and two-time Rugby Olympian Carlin Isles. They will discuss health and longevity beyond the years of pro sports.”
Care Alliance, now in its 41st year, launched in 1985 as Cleveland Health Care for the Homeless, and became the Care Alliance Health Center in 1993. Available services include behavioral health; clinical outreach; dental; pharmacy; podiatry; primary medical care and telehealth.
The agency now has three East Side locations at 1530 St. Clair Avenue; 2916 Central Avenue, and 6001 Woodland Avenue, and welcomes walk-ins and new patients. No one is turned away due to inability to pay. Appointments can be made for all locations by calling 216-535-9100.
