The timing is fitting: Heights Arts is marking its 25th anniversary, the Cedar Lee Theatre and Heights High School are celebrating their centennials, and Cedar Lee is being reintroduced as an arts district.
“He’s certainly been my most influential teacher, in addition to an amazing parent. He has made me love music, for sure. I feel lucky to have grown up in a house that’s been so saturated in chamber music and friendships through music.”
How does a historically Black neighborhood, rich in history, grow without losing what makes it special?
An Indigenous horror comedy about two siblings trapped between worlds — history, memory and the house they haunt — the production is directed by Nailah Unole didanas’ea Harper-Malveaux (Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma).
“This year we really sat down and asked where the need was greatest in the community."

For all the high-profile performances, Mikey Klein’s approach to stage fright is disarmingly straightforward. “I just tell myself, stop being scared. Just do it,” he says. “I don’t try to say, ‘Oh, it’s going to be okay.’ I just say, ‘Go up there, stop being scared of it, just do it.’ And it works all the time.”
For now, the Creative Garden is both a finish line and a beginning, a place where art, ecology, and community take root together.
The Mid-Autumn Festival drew hundreds of residents and visitors into what has long been known informally as the Square Dancing Park — a former parking lot now transformed into a gathering place.
“This is about elevating and amplifying the voices of Cleveland artists,” said Vince Robinson, co-creator of the festival and founder of Larchmere Arts. “We wanted to create a space for our community to experience art in all its forms — from gallery walls to poetry slams, from African drumming to documentary film.”
